Hello, dear readers! Welcome to another edition of my blog, where I share my thoughts on various topics of interest. Today, I want to talk about something that has been bothering me for a while: the state of politics in the world. As you know, I am a big fan of ancient history and mythology, and I often wonder what the Sfinx would say about todays politicians if he could see them.
You remember the Sfinx, right? He was that mythical creature with the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of an eagle. He lived near the city of Thebes in ancient Greece, and he had a nasty habit of asking riddles to anyone who wanted to pass by his lair. If they answered correctly, he would let them go. If they failed, he would devour them. He was eventually defeated by Oedipus, who solved his famous riddle: “What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?” The answer was “a human”, who crawls as a baby, walks as an adult, and uses a cane as an elder.
Now, imagine if the Sfinx was still alive and decided to challenge some of our modern politicians with his riddles. What do you think he would ask them? And how do you think they would answer? Here are some examples that I came up with:
- Sfinx: What is always coming but never arrives?
- Politician A: The end of corruption.
- Politician B: The next election.
- Politician C: World peace.
- Sfinx: Wrong! The answer is tomorrow. You are all liars and hypocrites. Nom nom nom
- Sfinx: What can you break but not touch?
- Politician D: The law.
- Politician E: The trust of the people.
- Politician F: The glass ceiling.
- Sfinx: Wrong! The answer is a promise. You are all selfish and unfaithful. Nom nom nom
- Sfinx: What has a face and two hands but no arms or legs?
- Politician G: A puppet.
- Politician H: A mask.
- Politician I: A clock.
- Sfinx: Correct! You are the only one who has some sense. You may pass. But beware, for your time is running out.
I hope you enjoyed this humorous scenario. Of course, I don’t mean to offend anyone or imply that all politicians are bad. I’m sure there are some good ones out there who genuinely care about their people and their values. But I also think that we should be critical and vigilant of those who abuse their power and manipulate their followers. Maybe we should all learn from the Sfinx and ask more questions and demand more answers from our leaders. After all, as the saying goes, “the truth will set you free”.
Thank you for reading my blog. Until next time, stay curious and stay safe!
